Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell vented this week about the lofty expectations President Trump set for Congress. Part of the reason I think that the storyline is that we havent done much is because in part the president and others have set these early timelines about things need to be done by a certain point, McConnell said at a Rotary Club event in his native Kentucky. Our new president, of course, has not been in this line of work before. And I think [Trump] had excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the democratic process. The 115th Congress has been labeled a do-nothing body, and McConnell says thats partly due to Trump setting artificial deadlines for his legislative priorities such as health care and tax reform.
